A man and four animals dead in SPCA fire

One person died and four animals were killed in a fire at the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) offices in Highveld Ridge in Secunda‚ Mpumalanga.According to Christine Kuch of SPCA national council‚ the fire broke out on Saturday morning but it is not yet clear what caused it."At approximately 3h00 on Saturday morning a fire started in the living quarters on the premises of the Highveld Ridge SPCA. Two men were asleep inside the building when it ignited. One man died and one escaped with minor injuries‚" Kuch said.It’s not yet clear what caused the fire in the early hours of this morning.The injured worker was discharged from hospital after treatment.Kuch added that store rooms‚ living quarters‚ personal possessions of staff and tools and machinery was destroyed in the blaze. Two vehicles were also damaged."The entire examination room and first aid area was also destroyed‚ so an examination table‚ light and animal first aid necessities are needed."Kuch said the total damage to property is roughly estimated at R800‚000...
