The football season has hardly begun and Kaizer Chiefs are already walking the tightrope. This can only happen to the "Giants of Naturena", who are under scrutiny more than any other team in the country.There are teams that would get away with losing two opening Premier Soccer League matches, but the manner of the defeats against Bidvest Wits and Cape Town City has unnerved the Chiefs faithful.They may have conceded only three goals but their spirit-lessness in attack and their lack of resolution will have the fans on edge.Tonight's clash against Platinum Stars at the FNB Stadium becomes of utmost importance for Steve Komphela's men as they seek to arrest their slide.PSL champions Mamelodi Sundowns will begin defence of their title when they travel to KwaZulu-Natal to take on Maritzburg United tonight.The Brazilians missed out last month because they had to play in Nigeria in the African Champions League.Tonight's match is the first in defence of the title they won last year and if past statistics are anything to go by, they should win ... but only just.Since the PSL was launched 20 years ago, the defending champions have won 10 out of 19 times in their first match of the season following their title success for a win percentage of just over 50%...
