Disruption at KZN legislature

27 October 2016 - 09:16 By Nathi Olifant

Security has been beefed up ahead of today's two-day sitting of the KwaZulu-Natal legislature in Dannhauser following threats of disruption by aggrieved ANC branch members. The anger was sparked by the disbanding of the ANC Emalahleni regional leadership by the provincial executive committee five days ago.Police said yesterday that nothing would be left to chance when members of the legislature visit communities as part of a campaign to "take parliament to the people".Emalahleni comprises the towns of Dannhauser, Newcastle and Utrecht.Angry ANC branch members yesterday threatened to disrupt the proceedings, saying that the ANC hears only "loud noise".Provincial ANC spokesman Mdumiseni Ntuli said the organisation was not aware of the planned disruption."We were not aware of it. However, genuine ANC members and branches know how to process their grievances. Disrupting the legislature will be the worst form of ill-discipline." ..
