The Stormers will only have a short time to prepare to take on the Crusaders in Christchurch on Saturday, having their first field session only today.

It's not ideal, coming off their 16-29 defeat by the Lions - their first defeat of the season - but it's not unusual for teams touring New Zealand.

Coach Robbie Fleck just shrugged his shoulders and said the team simply needed to get on with the job at hand.

The Stormers, who have never won in Christchurch, also play the Highlanders and Hurricanes on this trip.

Fleck has brought in Kiwi centre Shaun Treeby - who played more than 50 games for the Highlanders - to join the touring group. Treeby was signed three weeks ago but has yet to feature for the Stormers.

Given the workload EW Viljoen has had to carry - he has played every minute of the Stormers' seven matches so far - Treeby is likely to be used sooner rather than later.

Flank Cobus Wiese is also in the touring squad after a shoulder injury, leaving no room for Johan du Toit in the group.

Captain Siya Kolisi is not available for the Crusaders match because of Springbok rest protocols, so Wiese will most probably start in the No 7 jersey against the Crusaders.

"As a group we enjoy touring together but we know we will be seriously tested against some quality teams in New Zealand," Fleck said.

The Lions are sweating on the fitness of Springbok centre Rohan Janse van Rensburg who had scans yesterday for what is thought to be a torn knee ligament. The result will only be known today.

The Lions are also waiting to hear if flank Jaco Kriel will be suspended after being cited for a dangerous tackle on Stormers flyhalf Rob du Preez.

He was shown a yellow card on the field but the citing commissioner felt the incident met the red-card threshold.
