A driver and a passenger trapped in a minibus taxi were being freed after their vehicle collided with a bus on the M4 south in Durban on Monday morning.

Garrith Jamieson of Rescue Care said paramedics were at the scene of the collision before the Bluff off-ramp to the M7‚ where the taxi allegedly collided with the rear of the bus. "Paramedics and fire department are using jaws of life to free the trapped people. Both sustained serious injuries‚" said Jamieson.

He advised motorists to avoid the M4.
