Four people died when a bakkie drove off the R28 bridge in Krugersdorp on the West Rand, paramedics said on Tuesday.

Netcare911 spokesperson Shawn Herbst said the accident happened on Monday on Robert Boom Drive.

Herbst said it was believed that the driver of the bakkie lost control and went over the bridge, crashing onto the road below.

All four men were declared dead on the scene.

The fire and rescue services had to use the jaws of life equipment to remove the bodies from the wreckage.
