Zuma's new finance minister van Rooyen has fingers in several mining‚ business pies

Parliament's latest register of members' interests lists a plethora of business interests‚ shares and directorships held by David van Rooyen. The unknown back-bencher was appointed finance minister by Jacob Zuma in a shock announcement in which he axed the highly regarded Nhlanhla Nene.According to the register‚ Van Rooyen has interests in companies that operate in diverse fields such as mining and 'protection services'.The register lists 'shares and financial interests' in:Welkom Yizani (430 shares)‚ News24's black empowerment vehicle;Asonge (230 shares)‚ the National Empowerment Fund's share scheme; and Khalisa (106 shares)And‚ he has 'directorships and partnerships' in:Lake Bloomer EnterprisesMuziovulile Mining ProjectsSukuta EnterpriseWalinzi Protection ServicesPhambin Services..
