DA will hold Motshekga to new ‘Jobs for Cash’ deadline

The Democratic Alliance says it will hold Minister of Basic Education Angie Motshekga to her commitment to publicly release the SADTU ‘Jobs for Cash’ report by mid-March.DA spokesman on basic education Gavin Davis said this follows the minister's failure to keep her previous commitment to make the ‘Jobs for Cash’ report available by the end of February.“The release of the ‘Jobs for Cash’ report has been characterised by delays and goalpost-shifting. We will certainly hold the Minister to her promise to publicly release the report by the middle of March‚” Davis stated.He charged the report would show how SADTU-aligned officials were taking bribes in return for allocating teaching posts.“It will also show how 6 out of 9 provincial education departments have been captured by SADTU.”In her statement on Wednesday‚ the minister had noted that she would be consulting the unions before she releases the report‚ Davis said.“We hope that this will not turn into a negotiation between SADTU and the ANC‚” he said.“The time has come for government to decisively remove SADTU’s toxic influence on our education system. Minister Motshekga must put the interests of our children ahead of the internal politics of the tripartite alliance‚” Davis added...
