Abandoned suitcase sees bomb unit called in to Parliament

A black suitcase‚ discovered in the parliamentary precinct‚ caused some consternation and a bomb scare in Cape Town on Thursday.

The unattended suitcase was treated as a potential security threat and the police bomb disposal unit was called in to investigate.

MPs’ buses were stopped from entering Parliament and the area was hastily cordoned off.

A member of the police wearing a bomb disposal suit was spotted examining the suitcase and‚ once it was deemed to be safe‚ it was removed.
