From Orlando Pirates' win against AmaZulu to Cape Town City's signing of Chris David, here's a wrap of what happened on and off our playgrounds at the weekend.

Cape Town City signs Chris David

Former Fulham winger Dutchman Chris David joined Benny McCarthy's team Cape Town City on Sunday.

David's signing comes as the football club looks to replace Thabo Nodada and Ronald Putsche, who are out for the rest of the season due to injuries.

David plays both as central and as right winger.

Orlando Pirates vs Amazulu

Amazulu lost big as Orlando Pirates reclaimed its place as the winning team after their Absa Premiership match which the Buccaneers won by 4-1.

This win saw the Bucs move to the second position in the Absa Premiership, relegating Mamelodi Sundowns to third place.

Striker Thembinkosi Lorch delivered an impressive performance, which saw him bag the Man of the Match title yet again.

Banyana Banyana

National women's team Banyana Banyana midfielder Thembi Kgatlana and Linda Motlhalo both signed with Beijing BJ Phoenix FC, which plays in the Chinese women's soccer league.

Kgatlana was crowned Africa's Woman Soccer Player of the Year in January.

Banyana Banyana are preparing for the Cyprus Cup this week in the run-up to the 2019 Fifa Women's World Cup, which will take place in France between 7 June-7 July. Their first match is against Finland on Wednesday.

Maritzburg United vs Cape Town City

Cape Town City walked away victorious after an exciting match against Maritzburg United at the Athlone stadium on Saturday.

Thami Mkhize, Gift Links and Riyaad Norodien of Cape Town City scored the three goals that saw their team win by 3-2.

Maritzburg United remains at the tail of the premiership log as it holds position 16, while CTC is at position four.

Bidvest Wits vs Mamelodi Sundowns

Bidvest is leading the pack in the PSL log with 38 points. Orlando Pirates is at second position with 36 points and Sundowns also at 36 points, but played two matches less.

With such a tight lead Bidvest's coach Gavin Hunt contemplated that his team missed many chances to send Mamelodi Sundowns home at Milpark stadium on Saturday night.

"We just didn't have the final touch and the final pass [to finish off the game]. "Our final pass wasn't good enough but we still should have won the game."

The teams drew 1-1.
