CSA shaken by death of Lungi Ngidi's father

The sudden death of Lungi Ngidi’s father has shaken Cricket South Africa (CSA).

“CSA is shocked and deeply saddened by the passing away of Mr Ngidi‚” CSA president Chris Nenzani was quoted as saying in a release on Saturday.

“We would like to extend our most sincere condolences to Lungi and his family.

“May the Lord be with him and comfort the rest of the Ngidi family during this difficult time.”

The release quoted CSA acting chief executive Thabang Moroe as saying: “I am taking this moment to pass my condolences to the Ngidi family.

“It has to be even more difficult to lose a father figure at such a young age for Lungi.

“May the soul of Mr Ngidi rest peacefully.”

Jerome Ngidi‚ who recently had back surgery‚ died on Friday.

Lungi Ngidi‚ the youngest of Jerome and Bongi Ngidi’s four sons‚ is on his way back from the Indian Premier League.

The fast bowler has yet to play a match for Chennai Super Kings.
