You've dropped off the radar in SA, but apparently things are going well at Karlsruher SC in Germany?

Yes, of course. I came to Karlsruher in January on a five-month contract, which worked out very well and I helped the club stave off relegation. Now I've signed a two-year contract. I'm in top form.

What was it like at your previous club, Anorthosis in Cyprus?

I was a regular player but I got injured and was out for six weeks. They wanted to prolong my contract for two years but I missed my family in Germany.

You were taken to Cyprus by Ernst Middendorp?

Yes, but it was so funny because after two weeks he was fired. And I was stuck in Cyprus alone.

Then you spent six months clubless. Were there thoughts of coming back to the PSL?

I was actually in talks with a club in South Africa, which at the time had their team sorted and there was no chance to come back.

At 33, have you thought of following Benni McCarthy and winding down your career in the PSL?

Yes, of course. I'll see if Karlsruher want to keep me after my two-year contract. And then I am looking to come back and play in South Africa.

You've been in Europe for 18 years since you were 15. Will you settle there or in SA?

That's been a big concern for me and my family (German wife and two children). I can't take any decisions right now - I have to see how my career turns out and if I end up playing in Germany or South Africa.

Have you still got your pace?

Yes. The only thing that helps me at the moment is my speed.

As someone who was always available for Bafana Bafana, you must be pleased to see the team's revival?

I'm very happy for the national team. Pitso (Mosimane) has been doing a good job building up young players. But on the other side I'm very disappointed because, as you said, I was always there for the national team and I never turned them down. Then I was thrown out without any explanation or questions asked. But that's the way the cookie crumbles in football.

When last did you play for Bafana?

It was a qualifier in Nigeria where we lost 2-1, I think under Pitso.

No, I remember the game, it was the first match under Joel Santana.

Yes, Santana, that's the guy who killed me.
