I cannot say I am a science-fiction fan. But in your 2034 edition, I was enthralled by "Silver Woods Estate" by Richard Poplak.

Then "Baviaans-kloof" - I was hook-line-and-sinkered as Ashraf Jamal reeled me in. I am an aspiring old poet, and want to thank all the authors for their inspiration. - Cliff Lindemann

SOME brilliant and amazing writing. Something I (age 70) will keep for the future generation, but I missed my usual magazine! - Heather Mader

THERE seems to be no notion of a positive future in our beloved country. As a child, I forecast that in the 21st century, people would get ever more intelligent, with the result that our heads would become bigger. I was wrong. But can I be right this time in thinking we will survive and create a healthy planet and a successful SA? - Wilma Els

"SILVER Woods Estate" was a good read, but the story I enjoyed most was "uShaka Marine World" by Rian Malan. So true and relevant. Lovely set-up. - Kelly Matthee

RETURN TO SENNA

A stunning feature on Ayrton Senna by Thomas Falkiner. He is one of my all-time heroes, and to see an article out of the blue was just magnificent. - Diane Chidrawi

SYMBIOSIS

I found myself returning often to Simphiwe Nkwali's arresting photos of dog walkers. What struck me was the obvious bond between the people and the dogs. I gave your commentary a lot of thought, and agree: working in children's rights, I found many people would give money for animal welfare before child welfare. But here, near Howick, it's a win-win for children and dogs, at our NGO, Funda Nenja/Learning with the Dog. Every Friday at a local school, 100 kids and their dogs learn dog handling and life skills. Our project benefits the child, the dog, the family and community. Please check out our website at fundanenja.co.za. - Yvonne Spain
