Mafikizolo have shut down reports that the group's Theo Kgosinkwe is dead.

Reports of the artist's supposed death surfaced on a number of misleading fake news sites recently, and were shared by Facebook users.

The reports claimed that Theo had been found dead in his home, bleeding from his nose. It also suggested that the artist had been struggling with his health for some time.

But taking to Instagram on Monday, Theo's bandmate Nhlanhla Nciza responded angrily to the reports, reassuring fans that Theo is "fine".

"Whoever started this rumour shame on you. To our true fans/supporters Theo is fine, " Nhlanhla wrote, next a picture of the article.

And if you don't believe her, you might want to see this recent video of Theo looking alive and healthy in a shout-out to the group's fans.

Theo is the latest high-profile musician to be killed by social media.

Just last week, rapper Emtee took to social media to shut down rumours of him being dead.

  •

"I'm not dead bruh. What lies. They say I'm dead. Lapho there's awards coming up ... You know what that mean(s)," the rapper wrote in a series of tweets.
