That's our boy! DJ Shimza gets massive international praise after Ibiza debut

It seems like we are not the only ones completely obsessed with DJ Shimza!

The African Woman hitmaker, made his debut in the party capital of the word, Ibiza, recently. And while the thought of such a nerve-raking experience might have most of us wetting our pants, Shimza looks to have taken it all in his stride.

Shimza made his debut at the closing night at popular Ibiza venue Destino and, according to international press, blew the crowd away.

The SA born star was featured in a number of Spanish publications following his historic set and was hailed as a new rising star by Ibiza music and party authority Essential Ibiza.

The publication gushed over Shimza in a length article, detailing how they had fallen in love with our boy.

Sitting down with the publication, Shimza said that it was now South Africa's time to shine on the world stage.

"People are really warming to our sound. They like the groove, how the percussion is. To them it’s something different and they’re really opening up to it," he said.

Shimza is the latest SA DJ to steal the headlines in Ibiza, following in the footsteps of Culoe De Song and Black Coffee, and he explained what it is that makes South African house unique and so attractive to the world.

"We take what we’ve heard from around the world, so the music has a techie and a deep house side to it, but there’s a distinctively South African dimension, which comes from the townships. It’s the ghetto and that’s where all the music comes from," Shimza said.
