Ntsiki Mazwai is gatvol of celebrities not showing a united front against high data prices, labelling them “dumb” and “ignorant”.

In a video posted to her Instagram on Thursday morning, Ntsiki lambasted celebrities for not joining #SocialMediaBlackout campaign.

Addressing Mzansi’s biggest stars, Ntsiki said: "When you want support, you expect everyone to jump up and vote for you, but when there is a cause that affects everyone else your egos are so up your own asses that it's problematic. I just want to reiterate that you are dumb. You are so ignorant. This is going to work for your career," she said.

Speaking to TshisaLIVE, Ntsiki said that celebrities should have used their influence to join the fight against high prices.

"I feel like they didn't use their power. They have a powerful platform to make a change. They could have used their voice. They will benefit from this more than perhaps anyone but they are silent," she added.

A national social media boycott was held on Wednesday but was criticised after a hashtag promoting it trended for much of the day.

Ntsiki took part in the boycott and said that she intends to continue with the protest every Wednesday until the fight against service providers was won.

"People can say what they want about it but I am happy with how it went. I felt like it was a success. People wanted to join the cause and they wanted to make a difference. That is a success. I have no regrets about participating in it," Ntsiki added.
