#Winner or #Akawinanga? AKA is nominated for a Kids' Choice Award

Rapper AKA is up for another international award, but fans on social media are torn over whether to support or cancel him.

The star has been nominated for a Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Award in a special category, Favourite South African Star.

The category was not announced with the main nominees on Tuesday night, where SA-born star Troye Sivan and Nigerian muso Davido will slug it out for Favourite Global Music Star.

Instead, it was announced at a local ceremony on Wednesday.

AKA will compete with Nomzamo Mbatha, Somizi, Kagiso Rabada and Siya Kolisi.

The stars have been competing for votes on social media using a hashtag and so far AKA’s hashtag is the most popular.

From the moment AKA announced the nominations, the hashtag #VoteAKA trended on Twitter.

The reactions to the announcement ranged from love to confusion and hate.

Some users even asked whether the rapper’s bitter rival, Cassper Nyovest, would do him a favour and vote for the Super Mega to win the award.

There were six camps of people

Those who think AKA is king and should win not only the award, but also the presidency.

Then there was the straight up haters.
