SA-born comedian and The Daily Show host Trevor Noah ruffled a few feathers when he weighed in on "reparations & white privilege".

Trevor got a question from one of the audience members asking if what government is doing with regards to reparations and white privilege in America is biased.

He broke it down for everyone to understand why the actions from the government had to be different for black people and for white people.

"To your questions, I think you have to understand what the word reparations means first.  So reparations, means you are repairing something you broke, paying for something that you are supposed to pay for. I am not saying that there aren't people living in America today that aren't suffering and are going through pain and strife because what is happening when it comes to machines taking jobs."

Trevor went on to say that as far as he was concerned reparations was owed more to black people than other races.

He explained that slavery and other limitations black people have endured are injustices that have been waiting for redress for a long time and deserved priority over recent issues that may affect the white minority like industrialisation.

"It is hard to accept that you have benefits because of the colour of your skin if you cannot see the benefits that you have," he explained.

He gave examples of how black people have been going through the most as compared to white people touching on things like their land and rights that were taken away.

People all over social media appreciated the way Trevor handled the sensitive topic and how he managed to break it down for his audience.

"This from Trevor Noah is about Black American slaves but it applies to Black People all over the world especially in Africa. People use our land to grow their wealth then say we are lazy and ungrateful. White Privilege exists, if you can’t see it. It has already worked for you," one tweet said.
