Two-time Emmy nominated actress Thuso Mbedu is back in SA.

The star is busy promoting the The Woman King in Mzansi and she has been keeping her followers updated on her whereabouts.

Taking to her Instagram timeline she said she found the first leg of the promo tour to be amazing.

“Yesterday was absolutely amazing. We started our SA leg of a Woman King movie of press. It was such a wholesome and fulfilling experience. Thank you for everyone who turned up and showed us some love. We appreciate you, she wrote.

In another Instagram she was with her co-stars Siv Ngesi and John Boyega at the South African premiere of the movie on Thursday night.

“Sasa absolutely snapped with this dress! Creativity level 5,000. @houseofsass_sa y’all better Interview her and ask her about it,” she wrote.

Speaking to TshisaLIVE earlier this year, Siv Ngesi said being part of a film in which four dark-skinned women play leads was a humbling experience.

“What I love the most is that it's a story about the culture, the dark skinned-girl child. A lot of young girls will see themselves represented on the big screen, I don't think people understand how dark-skinned women are marginalised in society. The world has always made films around men's stories.”

The Woman King. Inspired by true events was shot in SA, and it tells the story of the 19th century Kingdom of Dahomey in West Africa (present-day Benin).

Thuso Mbedu has Mzansi beaming with pride after she appeared on the recent digital cover of Essence magazine alongside her co-stars

The film was directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood.

“My biggest take away is that I really am stronger than I think, believe or allow myself to be, that there is a greatness that you saw that I have not been allowed to see in myself that I need to take in. I thank you for seeing me. Because even now I don’t think I see myself,” she told Essence when speaking about Gina and Viola.
