Zinhle says she's learnt to navigate the entertainment industry differently.

On social media, the DJ has been accused of being the mastermind behind the changes in her husband's music group Black Motion, has pitted her against her close friend, actress Pearl Thusi, and her business has also come under scrutiny.

In a recent interview on Kaya 959, Zinhle said she refrains from defending herself on some things on social media because they could easily come across as attention seeking.

“Over the years I've just had to learn to remove myself from things that don't necessarily need me. I understand that the level of influence comes with these things, but there's also a level I've just had to remove myself from not allowing yourself to be a victim ... on a personal level. I am human and I have family I'm responsible for.

“Whatever experiences I am going through on a daily basis, everyone goes through that. It's not unique to me... there's probably a hundred thousand people going through the same thing, the only difference is it's happening publicly.”

Addressing her friendship with Pearl, Zinhle described it as a sisterhood, saying they were on good terms and speak often.

In late September a video of the two stars at a nightclub circulated on social media but their gestures were misconstrued.

Zinhle responded to critics, saying they should stop vilifying her.

“Also. Why would Pearl smile when she walked away if I was being mean to her? Please stop vilifying me... STOP!” she wrote.

“Also. Y’all keep saying I don’t need to explain myself so you can push the narrative that entertains you. I was never mean to Pearl. Not at all...”
