Unathi Nkayi got candid with her followers about how she's been using therapy and exercise to overcome the mental health challenges she faced after “losing it all”.

The media personality was fired with from Kaya 959 radio station in November 2021 after her dispute with Sizwe Dhlomo for accusing him of verbal abuse and unprofessional conduct. Subsequently, Unathi cancelled some gigs.

The revamping of the judging panel for season 18 of Idols SA in 2022 saw her axed after being on the show for 10 seasons.

Taking to Instagram on Tuesday, Unathi recalled her journey to healing, speaking of how therapy was the hardest for her and nearly had to be put on medication.

“I have been through the most vigorous and painful year of therapy of my life because I lost everything due to a one-sided story that many were too keen to believe.” she wrote.

“In May my therapist wanted to put me on meds. Anxiety pills and tranquillisers because I had hit rock bottom. We decided against the meds but that meant I had to force myself to get into a routine which included exercise. To show up for myself.

“My father said; ‘Be regular with your therapy and then sit back and watch them turn against each other. They will because there is no integrity among the three people who conspired against you in this matter.’”
