Bongekile "Babes Wodumo" Simelane has shot up trends list again for her conduct at the funeral for Mampintsha's mother, Zamanguni Gumede.

Gumede died on January 15 after being hospitalised  a for minor stroke just weeks after her son, Big Nuz musician Mandla “Mampintsha” Maphumulo, died after suffering a stroke.

Videos of Babes smiling and dancing when bidding her final farewell at the funeral service in L Hall KwaMashu, Durban, on Saturday have been making the rounds on social media with many weighing in on her funeral decorum.

When taking to the podium to pay tribute to her mother in-law, Babes said her behaviour was not a media stunt but rather a celebration of the life of the woman who gave birth to her late husband.

The gqom hit maker went on to vow to take good care of Mampintsha's family.

“I wasn't doing this to show off or that I want the media to paint me in a good light. This woman lying here is also my mother, she gave birth to my husband. So God has taught me the ministry of forgiveness and I've done that.

“Sis Pinky knows that we fight and make up because we have drama anyway.. I will take care of you. If you can't get hold of me, come to my house and I'll even pay for the Uber,” she said.

Speaking to TshisaLIVE on Monday, Mampintsha's sister Pinky Gumede lauded the Simelane family for contributing towards giving her mother a dignified send-off.

“Everything went well. The Simelane family helped me from home to the mortuary and everything else. They even asked to upgrade the casket. Myself and the Simelane family are on good terms now I hope it remains that way,” she said.

“Not having money to go visit my mother while she was in hospital made me very angry. However, at this point I'm not expecting any drama from them. Now there's communication between us. Even at the funeral there was no drama.”
