Former Real Housewives of Durban star Kgomotso Ndungane has shared her thoughts about how reality television can affect one's life and who stands to benefit from the way women are portrayed.
After a fiery episode of RHOD aired on Wednesday which showed Nonku and Slee almost getting into a brawl during a dinner in Knysna in the Western Cape, Kgomotso said she was disheartened to see women act this way.
The former reality TV star, who appeared in the past two seasons, took to her Instagram stories speaking of how grateful she was having left the show as she didn't have to change her character to entertain viewers.
“Always stick to things that are aligned to your value system. Things that build you, and your character for greater good and not for worldly entertainment. Things that will make your children proud. Things that will make your family, and most importantly, things that will enhance your reputation and not bring out the worst in you.
“Knowing who to keep in your circle, who to call a friend, who to support, who to associate yourself with and who to keep far away from is such an intricate part of growth.”
Kgomotso said production and its stakeholders were the only ones to benefit from the shows, unlike the cast.

“This is disheartening to see what eventually becomes of such amazing women who have been examples in their own right, in private, before the show. I am sad to see what has become of the stature of women. More so, women in business nature [mothers], role models to their offspring.”
Attempts by TshisaLIVE to get comment from Kgomotso were unsuccessful at the time of publishing this article. An update will be included once received.
Previously, Kgomotso said she doesn't think she'll go the reality TV show route again.
“When I measure and question how I contributed to society through the show, it's like no contribution. How has it changed the minds of the one that's trolling people, it has not moved the country forward,” she told TshisaLIVE.
“I wouldn't go on to reality shows any more, or I'd be very selective.”
