Sjava says he was laughed at for listening to Beyoncé when he was on the come-up.

Taking to his Twitter timeline, he said in his formative years he would study the Renaissance megastar.

“I remember back in the day buying all Beyoncé DVDs and live performances, locked myself in watching and studying everything. The guys I used to rap with laughed at me and told me singing is for soft people, bona they hard. Today the same guys are hating on me for my success.

“Dear upcoming artist, listen to all genres and explore if you want to grow, be unique and great. Don’t box yourself because of what people or your friends will say. One day I will break down how the sound and production on some of the songs came about,” he wrote

In his mentions, his followers commended him for listening to the megastar.

“She’s a brilliant musician and has an amazing production team. Worth studying if one is in the showbiz business. Study the greats. Good advice, nkabi,” said one.

“Beyoncé has one of the best songs I've heard in my life. I feel sorry for people who get bullied for listening to good music just because it comes from females. You know how hard Me, Myself and I by Beyoncé bangs?”

Sjava released his album Isibuko, which he said was inspired by a mirror he bought that broke moments thereafter.

He previously told TshisaLIVE his gift is to pen his experiences in a song to “help people” who relate to his music.

“As people, we go through similar things. I can talk about what I went though personally in a song, but you might find there are a lot of people who have been through it, so when they hear the song, they get to relate and heal from it.”
