Buhlebendalo Mda aims to bring healing to the queer community.

The singer hosts conversation sessions with her partner about issues surrounding the LGBTQIa+ community through their shared Instagram page Bees on the Couch.

In celebrating pride month, the couple is set to host an event dubbed 'Colors of Love' on June 30 focusing on healing queer creatives through Yoga, Sip 'n Paint, and other activities.

“We talk about queer rights and queer stories. It's a healing space for queer people, we are going to be closing pride month with healing through movement and conversation, people should come and heal while being gay, she tells TshisaLIVE.

On social media, Buhle has created spaces where she displays different parts of her character, but they all serve one purpose — to heal.

“I put out there what I need to put out there and whatever people want to say is their problem because, for the longest time, I was afraid to live my authentic self saying that I will be judged or looked at in a different way, and life is too short for that. I share what I'm comfortable sharing.

“I made beautiful boundaries because I have accounts where I know it's for everyone and a personal account where it's for my personal people. I think it's important to strategise like that.”

Beyond social media, Buhle has used her music to heal as well.

She talks about seeking validation from other people when it's within ourselves and changing the narrative of her song with DJ Miza Amakhamandela.

“My main purpose is healing. Music found me along the way and I think my healing space flourishes through my music and my clothing designs.”

When speaking to TshisaLIVE, Buhle had just landed from Russia where she was performing with The Soil and was making an appearance at the Shaka iLembe premier in Fourways, Johannesburg after the soundtrack she created for the series.

“I'd like to say I'm flourishing in my solo career because I feel like that's where I am authentically and fully myself unapologetically, and I don't have to hide, modified, or do things lady-like. I just tell my story the way it is and I feel like I did good for myself to do that because there are so many stories I carry within me that need to be told.”

She says she has a lot of surprises in store for her fans, more especially with her music as she is in talks with different producers.

“I am working a lot with other musicians now, I'm at a space in my life where I feel creative to create with other people. I think I'm at a space where I want to play and share my healing space through my music.”
