If you missed the tribute performance to AKA at the Galaxy 947 Joburg Day, his label Vth Season has shared the moments that left the audience in their feels.
On their Instagram timeline, they shared a video montage. “This one’s for Supa Mega. We’ll never forget this AKA celebration co-ordinated by Vth Season,” read the post.
Rappers K.O, Khuli Chana, Yanga Chief, Thato Saul, Da L.E.S and The Mega Band did a tribute performance for AKA.
AKA’s father Tony Forbes, mother Lynn and business partner Raphael Benza also later got on stage in support of AKA's daughter Kairo when she sang her father’s song Company, which left the crowd in tears and cheering for her.
DJ Zinhle said Kairo broke down and cried after performing. Taking to her Instagram timeline on Sunday, the mom of two told how her daughter missed her dad.
“After performing her dad’s song in front of thousands of people, my 8-year-old broke down crying, saying she misses her daddy and wishes he was here. Kairo tries a lot to suppress her feelings and this is one of the few times I’ve seen her cry like that. This is happening while @thando_thabethe is announcing me for my performance. @nadianakai is so brave. She took over as I walked onto the stage crying and heartbroken. Halfway into my first song, @kairo.forbes was standing next me — check the last slide. You can see she literally wiped her tears and stood bravely next to me. I am so proud of her but I wish she didn’t need to be so brave. I wish she still had her dad,” she wrote.
