Lynn Forbes, affectionately known as “Glammy”, wants to have a positive influence on the world and is involved in different industries to make sure that happens.

She's just launched a new podcast, Outspoken Owls, with her close friend Katie Mohamed to shed light on what it means to be a middle-aged woman.

“We realised there's no space for the over 40s group of men and women, but we also want to appeal to younger people. We're talking about topics from menopause, dating in your 40s, things people don't normally want to talk about,” she told TshisaLIVE.

“I'm an inspirational speaker, that's the main thing I do. I tell stories. So we thought we should do it, we just never had a space to do it and podcasting is a growing industry.”

Besides the podcast, Lynn, 55, also runs an integrated wellness experience with life coach Khadijah Mia, promoting a holistic approach to wellbeing.

“I believe in ageing gracefully with purpose. I want to be here for a long time and make sure there's a positive experience for as long as I can, so I need to do the right things. I need to make sure I'm fit.

“I believe the things I do have to be what speaks to me, and self-care is important to me, which includes wellness and soul care, which is that I am deserving of all the things I do in taking care of myself and having a good quality of life for as long as I can.”

Lynn has many brands she's affiliated with, and one of them is her granddaughter Kairo Forbes, by managing her Instagram page and facilitating the work she does.

She says her appearance in season 3 of DJ ZinhleUnexpected will show how she juggles her family dynamics with work.

“I've always been about my family and I always will be. I've always been about wellness and I'll always be.”

Her endeavours have carried her through the past few months of grieving her son, rapper AKA, who was shot dead outside a Durban restaurant on February 10.

As part of her wellness mission, she's planning a trip to Mount Everest.

“I want to honour Kiernan with this spiritual journey.”
