Wendy Parker, wife of TS Galaxy footballer Bernard Parker who was recently injured,  shared words of encouragement for her hubby ahead of his surgery.

The new Carling Knockout Cup tournament got off to a dramatic start on Wednesday when Sundowns midfielder Bongani Zungu delivered a fierce tackle against Parker that snapped his shin.

Taking to her Instagram timeline, Wendy shared a prayer accompanied by a Bible scripture.

“Please give Bernard a successful surgery so he can fully recover and continue praising you. Bless the hands of the surgeons, doctors, nurses in their work today, and please help them heal Bernard. Let us remember your words in Isaiah 41:10: 'Do not be afraid, for I am with you; do not give up',” she wrote.

“Here it is again, me and you until the end of time.”

TS Galaxy  released a statement on X wishing Parker a speedy recovery.

“We wish @BernardParker a speedy recovery following a horrific injury last night. We’ve lost a soldier who we shall dearly miss as our journey on the battlefield continues. Come back stronger, Die Hond. We dedicate last night’s victory to you.

Speaking to TimesLIVE on Thursday, TS Galaxy said the player could come back to the game if he receives  "proper rehabilitation".

“On what people are saying about whether the injury is an end to his career, you can never be sure with these types of injuries. But essentially, what we got [from medics] is that he can come back with proper rehabilitation,” said TS Galaxy spokesperson Siyabonga Sukazi.

“We are not sure how long the recovery might take. The team and staff are concerned, but we took strength from his reaction to the injury. He told us he would be fine and would get back to us in no time.”
