Musician Vusi Nova had fans screaming when he acknowledged the role Afro-soul singer Ntando Bangani has played in the music industry.

Ntando had an event in Middelburg over the weekend to celebrate 20 years in showbiz.

On the line-up was Lwah Ndlunkulu, Idols SA season 9 winner Musa Sukwene and Vusi, among others.

Vusi shared the clip on his Instagram timeline, saying Ntando has inspired him for 20 years.

"We are here celebrating 20 years of Ntando. I know behind closed doors I always tell you this: I'm so proud of you," he said.

"Thank you for giving us you, always being you, your authentic self, thank you so much."

Taking to his own timeline, Ntando thanked Vusi for performing at his event.

"What a performance this guy did yesterday, out of this world and I thank you for your great contribution in making my 20th anniversary in music a great success," he wrote.

Over the years Ntando has moved from only singing love songs to approaching social issues, too. Speaking to TshisaLIVE previously when he released Mayibuye, he said he was loving the chapter he was entering into.

"I know that I am known for love songs, and I still have love songs [on my album] but I have been loving people's comments. It has made me grateful to have made the choice to also sing about things that are happening in society, like the land issue," he said.

The musician said he hoped more musicians would use their platform to spark dialogue about issues affecting communities.

"I truly feel that as musicians we are a given a platform, a huge platform to speak about anything really, but we choose to talk about mostly our boyfriends and girlfriends and how much money we have."
