KFC Africa on Tuesday launched its first concept store in Braamfontein, Johannesburg, a unique store that offers creative and inspiring products.

LootLove, Justin 99, Kim Jayde, DJ Sabby, and Major Steez were some of the celebs in attendance.

KFC at Play Braam will be a permanent feature in the heart of Joburg's vibey Braamfontein and will have exclusive menu items, the coolest fashion collabs, and out-of-this-world in-store digital experiences. And the interior design included collaborative pieces with local designers and creatives including Yay Abe, Karabo Poppy and Damn Vandal.

Mzukisi Mbane of Imprint ZA created a capsule range with patterns and colours.

“KFC has been about 50 years in this country and the idea was to remain finger-licking famous forever and the only way to do that was to make sure we appeal to the youth market. Braamfotein houses more than 100,000 students so it made perfect sense that this is where would build our concept store,” KFC Africa's GM Akhona Qengqe told TshisaLIVE.

Rapper Moozlie hosted the event while DBN Gogo kept the guests entertained on the ones and twos, giving them a taste of her upcoming album Click Bait.

“It's got the things that you know and love but I made it a little faster to get to a different place which is away from the strict amapiano because at the end of the day, I am a house DJ so I think it was important for us to start exploring and promoting our dance music,” DBN Gogo told TshisaLIVE.

The concept store gave a futuristic feel which as an artist she could relate to.

“Artists reveal a little bit about themselves as they go and how they want to be seen and portrayed and when you are in tune with your authentic self you know exactly how to do that. When you are changing and growing you need to bring your fans on that journey because nothing stays the same. You are allowed to do new things and try new things, that's the nice thing about being an artist.”

Major Steez, who is gearing to release a body of work this year said this KFC concept store inspired them to learn about the importance of constantly reinventing as a brand.

“Keeping up with the times and being futuristic is important, that's how you stay fresh and relevant. We'll be releasing our debut album Sweet Life soon,” Major Steez said.
