Fully Focus has unlocked a new era in his music career after the release of his new EP Kikuyu House featuring Kenyan sensation Sofiya Nzau.

The East African music pioneer's sound is set to transcend cultural and language barriers with enchanting melodies that embody the soul of Africa.

Fully Focus did a Q&A session with TshisaLIVE on his musical journey and what’s to come.

What made you decide to pursue AfroTech out of all genres as a DJ?

I’ve always been a house and EDM fan. It’s usually the climax part of my sets. I’ve also been an Afro music ambassador, so it felt right to fuse those two worlds together I guess. AfroTech is what embodies that energy.

You released a new EP with Sofiya Nzau. How would you describe the sound?

It’s called Kikuyu House and it’s a new genre that combines Kikuyu music, Kikuyu being the largest tribe and most spoken dialect in Kenya, and house music. It’s a four-track EP with classic Kikuyu songs about love, spirituality and dance made for today’s global audience.

How would you describe the music culture in Kenya? Do you think the world is ready to consume your music?

It’s very diverse and multicultural because we grew up listening to practically every genre. There’s a scene for every culture. I do believe they are more than ready for the music I’m making because of the times we’re living in where African music is inescapable. There’s already proven success in similar sounds.

You are starting the year with a bang. What's the projection for the rest of 2024?

World domination. There are a lot of ideas I’ve had and been working on for a while, and I can’t wait to share them with the world. I’m excited.

You have an impressive bio of great achievements in the music industry. What is your overall vision as an African artist living in America?

First, I’m grateful for all God has allowed me to do and see. Second, my vision is to highlight the diversity of African music, and push the boundaries of what has been already achieved.
