Lethabo “Lejoy” Mathatho is set to give back to the less fortunate in the community of Ha — Mashau in Limpopo.

The reality TV star will be distributing food parcels, laptops, school uniforms and bursaries to matriculants of 2023 on Wednesday with Miss SA Ndavi Nokeri and actor Sydney Ramakuel.

The stars have joined forces with the NJM Foundation to bring transformation to rural communities and schools in Southern Africa through the implementation of sustainable initiatives that will bring hope and enduring change to people. “Anything that is related to giving back touches me. I am passionate about helping to make a change. It starts with us in the communities that we come from. I am from Limpopo and I going home to make sure that children’s education is not interrupted,” Lehoko told TshisaLIVE.

“Poverty affects all of us. The foundation has been assisting people for years through their own pockets. That shows they care. I know what it’s like to want and not have and changing one child’s life makes a big difference. Many of us grew up with little and we are now in positions to help others, why not? I have been poor. I have also had and lost and learnt to appreciate the small things in life. Change starts with us.”

NJM Foundation founder Nyambeni Maphalaphathwa said partnering brands that believe in the mission of her company was important to broaden the reach and help touch more lives.

Nyambeni said education, unemployment and poverty are the primary focus areas of the foundation’s initiatives to empower individuals, families, and communities.

“The foundation has been supporting families and schools in Limpopo since 2012. We also sent food parcels and blankets to KZN during the time of floods and more than 500 families benefited. Just recently we donated food parcels and sport equipment to communities in and around Gauteng.

“The are a lot of issues within the community such as unemployment, lack of sports equipment and facilities, poverty and lack of educational support. A little goes a long way.”
