Derrick Fellows, by e-mail: In the report "Tension over 'no pay' policy" (September 7), you quote Tony Ehrenreich of Cosatu as saying that the Western Cape provincial government's policy of not paying strikers "was done with the intent to victimise people".

Could Ehrenreich remove the mote from his own eye long enough to explain what the intention was of leaving sick babies and terminally ill patients unattended in hospitals, or explain what forcibly preventing non-striking staff members from performing their duties was intended to accomplish?

Pardon my ignorance, but I thought that the purpose of a strike was to withdraw your labour and forego your wages in order to achieve your goals.

What this country needs is a Maggie Thatcher.
