Porsche last year September shattered the production car lap record at the Nürburgring Nordschleife with their 911 GT2 RS. Racing driver Lars Kern steered the most powerful road-going 911 around the infamous "Green Hell" in just 6:47.3 minutes.
His performance knocked the Huracán Performante from the top of the leaderboard and in turn upset a lot of people in Sant'Agata Bolognese. Well that anger has now turned to joy as Lamborghini has just stuck it to Porsche with their new Aventador SVJ – a soon-to-be-released monster that packs a whopping 567kW courtesy its 6.5-litre V12 motor.
With Lamborghini factory racing driver Marco Mapelli at the wheel, the Aventador SVJ set a lap time of 6:44.97 minutes – exactly 2.27 seconds faster that the Porsche. So... any bets as to how long this new record stand? – Staff Writer
