Toddler drowns in Olivedale swimming pool

A two-year-old girl drowned this morning at a home in Olivedale‚ Johannesburg‚ a paramedic service said on Wednesday.

ER24 and Life Healthcare paramedics were called to the property at approximately 10.40am.

"The child and mother (were) seated on the pavement outside the residence. Paramedics quickly assessed the child and found no signs of life. CPR and advanced life support interventions were immediately initiated‚ in an effort to revive the patient. Unfortunately‚ after 30 minutes‚ no vital signs returned and the child was pronounced dead on the scene‚" said Russel Meiring‚ ER24 spokesperson.

"It is believed that the family had pulled the child from the pool and carried her to the sidewalk. An investigation will be launched."
