A Durban woman was stabbed during a robbery in the upmarket Japanese Gardens in Durban North on Saturday.

Marshall Security spokesperson Kyle van Reenen said that woman and her partner had been in the park for a picnic.

"The two had been enjoying the afternoon the popular gardens when they were approached by two men who demanded they hand over their cell phones‚" he said.

"During the exchange one of the men produced a knife and the woman was stabbed in the hand. She was moderately wounded and was treated at the scene before she was taken to the Netcare Umhlanga Hospital‚" he said.

The men escaped on foot and no arrests have been made.
