No arrests have been made yet in the murder case of a woman who was shot dead while jogging along Zinnia Drive in Malboro Gardens‚ Johannesburg‚ in the early hours of Tuesday.

The motive for the attack was unknown‚ said Captain Mohlaume Mamabolo‚ spokesperson for the Sandringham Police Station.

ER24 paramedics‚ along with the City of Johannesburg EMS‚ arrived on the scene at 7am to find local authorities already in attendance.

A woman‚ believed to be in her 20s‚ was shot dead while on an early morning run on Tuesday‚ paramedic service ER24 says.

ER24 spokesman Russel Meiring said paramedics had found the body of the woman lying on the sidewalk.

“Assessments showed that the woman had sustained a gunshot wound to her chest‚ as well as her abdomen. Unfortunately‚ the woman had already succumbed to her injuries.”

Nothing more could be done for her and she was declared dead‚ he said.
