The South African Weather Service said that the Overberg district‚ Cape Metropole and Cape Winelands would be affected by the front‚ which would also bring strong interior winds over the central Karoo.

Light dustings of snow turned parts of the Eastern Cape‚ KwaZulu-Natal and Lesotho into a winter wonderland on Tuesday causing temperatures to drop.

There are expected to be gale force winds of around 65 to 85km/h between Table Bay and Cape Agulhas late on Thursday‚ spreading to Plettenberg Bay on Friday morning.

A preliminary 24-hour rainfall report issued earlier on Wednesday showed that Richards Bay in KwaZulu-Natal recorded 23mm of rain – the highest in the country.

Gauteng can expect cooler weather from Monday. Minimum temperatures for Johannesburg will be about 7˚C on Friday‚ 5˚C on Saturday and 2˚C on Sunday.
