President Jacob Zuma's communications adviser, Zizi Kodwa, has turned to Twitter to express his anger and disgust at the police who arrested him for drunk driving.

He has vowed to make them pay after blood tests revealed that he had no alcohol in his system at the time of his arrest.

Kodwa, who is in Guguletu, Cape Town, on honeymoon, is forging ahead with his R5-million lawsuit against the minister of police for defamation.

Yesterday, Kodwa did not mince his tweets, saying the police were in the "s**t" and he was "not going to let them get away with it".

Two constables from the Rosebank police station pulled Kodwa over at a stop street while he was driving three friends home from a party at about 2am last month.

Though Kodwa pleaded innocent, the constables ordered him to follow them to the station in his own car and undergo a blood test.

His blood was drawn at the Hillbrow community health clinic at about 4.30am, he said.

Kodwa maintained that he was not drunk and said at the time that he would sue the two constables in their personal capacity "at a later stage" for unlawful arrest and abuse.

After his arrest, Kodwa gave the police seven days to prove that he had been drunk behind the wheel.

Yesterday, Kodwa, who did not take any phone calls, wrote: "Blood sample results are back, alcohol in my blood: ZERO. I told them, banyile (they are in s**t), ngeke ndibayeke (I will not let them get away with this)."

"Thanks to everyone who supported and stood by me under such vicious attacks. My wife and I really appreciate it," said Kodwa.

Police spokesman Neville Malila yesterday confirmed that there were no traces of alcohol in Kodwa's blood.

"Yes, it is true. We will launch an internal investigation to look at what happened that evening.

"That investigation will then determine whether a disciplinary hearing will be instituted," said Malila.

He could not confirm that Kodwa was due to appear in court next year.

"After receiving the blood alcohol results, we sent the docket to the state prosecutor to make a decision," he said.

The newlywed wrote on Twitter that his lawyers were still dealing with the National Prosecuting Authority on formalities.

He had been due to appear in court in May.
