The goal of the Western Cape Democratic Alliance is to increase the voter base to 60 percent in the next general elections, provincial party leader Ivan Meyer said on Saturday.
The newly-elected leader told provincial congress delegates he was both optimistic and confident he could improve on the 51 percent achieved in 2009.
His other goals included increasing the party's visibility in the province and prioritising safety.
In all of this, he would remain humble.
"Leadership is not a position in the DA. I accept that leadership is a responsibility," he said.
Meyer, also the social development and sport MEC, was elected unopposed.
Western Cape health MEC Theuns Botha was voted in as deputy provincial leader and local government MEC Anton Bredell as provincial chairman, both being the sole nominees for the positions.
For the deputy chair position, three out of 10 candidates were elected.
They are: social development MEC Albert Fritz, Eric Marais and provincial legislature speaker Richard Majola.
The provincial executive committee received four additional members, Okkie Terblanche, Guy Harris, Thandeka Gqada and Grant Twigg.
Andricus van der Westhuizen was elected as provincial chair of finance.
At least 864 party members cast their votes.
