'You rightwinger‚ go back to Europe' - EFF disrupts Gauteng legislature again

25 August 2015 - 14:52 By Penwell Dlamini And Shenaaz Jamal

The Gauteng Provincial Legislature was forced to adjourn proceedings on Tuesday morning after members of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) refused to leave the house after an order from presiding officer to do so. Deputy speaker Uhuru Moiloa ordered house security to remove EFF MPL Patrick Sindane after he stood without being recognised while infrastructure development MEC Nandi Mayathula-Khoza was responding to a question. While Moiloa was trying to address Sindane‚ the chief whip of the EFF‚ Mandisa Mashego‚ stood up and complained that the speaker was biased in his decisions in the house.Sindane refused to sit down‚ telling the speaker that he will not allow anyone to remove him from the house.“I have made the ruling; the member has stood up in this house without any applicable rule whatsoever. Get that member out of the house‚” said Moiloa.“You must come and remove me‚ call the police it’s fine…I’m rising on a point of order‚ it’s easy‚” Sindane shouted in response.House security approached Sindane‚ but he refused to leave and called on Moiloa to come remove himself.Security appeared to not be able to even touch Sindane‚ and Moiloa started indicating that police would have to come to restore order in the house. As temperatures continued to rise‚ there was some grumbling coming from the Democratic Alliance side of the house‚ which pushed EFF members to boiling point.“Do you know why you can’t have order in this house? It’s because you are biased and not honest. When you are a biased speaker‚ you get this kind of disorder‚” Mashego told Moiloa.Moiloa tried reading the rule book after gaining a moment of calm‚ but it did not help and he was force to adjourn proceedings. He then called chief whips to meet to try find some common ground. As members departed from the house – whose air-conditioning‚ for some strange reason‚ did not appear to be working - the situation got worse. One member of the opposition apparently directed an obscenity at Mashego and she lost her cool.“Who are you to use (the) ‘ass’ word on a woman?…You rightwinger‚ go back to Europe‚” Mashego shouted.-RDM News Wire..
