Cape Town braces for road closures ahead of State of the Nation address

The City of Cape Town has released a list of temporary road closures for the State of the Nation address on Thursday.

The address takes place on Thursday, with closures due to start as early as 6am.

Roads in the central business district will also close on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings when rehearsals will take place.

Buitenkant Street - from Strand Street to Roeland Street - will be closed on all three days.

"Residents are urged to please familiarise themselves with the road closure schedule and parking restrictions so as to avoid being inconvenienced. While the extended area and time of the road closures is not ideal, the city must comply with the requirements of the government and the police,'' a statement by the city read.
