Mbenge, SA's only boxing medallist at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, takes on Nthuko Memela at Emperors Palace while Lerena, with a record of just one defeat, will face Namibian Vikapita Merora.

They will fight on the undercard for Hekkie Budler's bid to reclaim the IBO junior-flyweight title he briefly held in 2010 and 2011.

Brian Mitchell, publicist for promoter Rodney Berman, said Mbenge and Lerena would fight in the US if they won next month.

"If they win the US dates will be soon after their fights," Mitchell said during an open training session at the Smith brothers' gym in Johannesburg, where all the locally based fighters on the card displayed their skills.

Mbenge, in particular, is considered a future star. Many pundits rate him as the best welterweight in the country at the moment.
