Arsenal turned down a bid from Barcelona for captain Cesc Fabregas, according to media reports on Friday.

According to the Sun and the Telegraph, the London club rejected  a 27-million-pound (R297 million) offer out of hand.

Barca’s move is not unexpected, after they had a bid for the midfielder rejected last summer.

“(Manager Pep) Guardiola knows the values of players and Cesc’s is less than 40 (million) euros (57 million dolars),” Barcelona president Sandro Rosell said.

“Barcelona will offer less and, if they don’t accept, then he won’t come.”
