Kaizer Chiefs announced on Tuesday that Simphiwe Tshabala will be the new captain for the 2015/16 Premier Soccer League season.

The reigning PSL champions took to their Twitter and Google+ accounts to confirm the new appointments.

Chiefs also named a six-man "Captain’s Committee" that will assist the 30-year-old, who joined Amakhosi from relegated Free State Stars at the end of the 2005/06 campaign.

The six men who will assist Tshabalala are Siboniso Gaxa, Willard Katsande, Morgan Gould, Tsepo Masilela, Reneilwe Letsholonyane and Lorenzo Gordinho.

Tshabalala takes over the captain's armband from Tefu Mashamaite and Itumeleng Khune, who have left the club after failing to reach agreement for new contracts.
