Cosatu’s Western Cape secretary Tony Ehrenreich has criticised the national soccer team, Bafana Bafana, for lack of transformation, decrying the fact that there is no colour in Shakes Mashaba’s team.

Ehrenreich spoke to the Daily Voice on Tuesday following Bafana’s humiliation 3-1 defeat away to African minnows Mauritania in a Afcon qualifying match on Saturday.

The Union boss branded the Bafana team management as a “disaster.”

“There is no colour there. No white and no coloured. Just one white player and three coloureds,” said Ehrenreich.

“The other 21 players are all African. It has been proven that mixed is better. I blame this disaster on the team’s management.

“We need a lekker mixed masala, not just the darker spices, but all blends.”

“We need transformation to happen in all our sport, so the teams are always representative of our nation or they will never win.”

Ehrenreich last month also lambasted the Springboks, our national rugby team, for fielding just three players of colour in their 25-37 home defeat to Argentina.
