Maritzburg United have announced Fadlu Davids as their new head coach at a press conference currently underway in Pietermaritzburg.

Davids impressed greatly as Premier Soccer League team Maritzburg’s caretaker-coach in two stints in the past season.

He enjoyed a significantly higher win ratio than United’s other two coaches in the campaign – Ernst Middendorp and Roger de SA – and guided the KwaZulu-Natal team to only their second top eight place‚ in seventh.

Their previous highest finish was eighth under current Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela in 2014-15.

Davids was a striker for Silver Stars and Maritzburg.

His goals as the First Division's top scorer in 2007-08 helped the Team of Choice gain promotion back to the PSL as NFD champions‚ having been relegated the previous season.
