Connoisseurs, wine makers and wine drinkers will usher in spring by savouring the smells and tastes of various wines at the seventh annual Soweto Wine Festival.

Marilyn Cooper, Cape wine master and joint founding member of the Tops Soweto Wine Festival, says: "Believe it or not, we are full. The wineries this year are bringing a fantastic variety of wines to cater to all palates."

A new addition this year is an area for shisa nyama, a buy-and-braai experience which originated in the townships.

The highlight promises to be the Nederburg Wine and Food Tasting Theatre.

  • The Soweto Wine Festival takes place from today to Saturday at the University of Johannesburg, Soweto Campus. The entry fee is R100 per person
