At possibly the most gorgeous book launch you've ever seen, all the stops were pulled out for Bonang Matheba's From A to B. But this is, after all, the most famous lass in the land.
We were gathered at the snazzy Diamond Walk in Sandton City, where a cordoned-off section was transformed into a pink fairy tale with roses in glass vases, plush lounges, beautifully displayed food and even petals sprinkled on the floor.
As I cast around, though, I was hard-pressed to find a familiar face until I spied Rami Chuene, wearing Thula Sindi, and her good friend, fellow actress Renate Stuurman. Next I spotted Zuraida Jardine, draped in fur, with her husband Joshua Lindberg and South Africa's yummiest mummy, Vanessa Carreira-Coutroulis.
In sauntered the lady of the hour with her bad-boy rapper AKA and camera crew.
Basetsana Kumalo heaped praise on the ex-Top Billing presenter, cooing: "You are the epitome of what a black girl in South Africa can be. You have a work ethic second to none. You show up, you are diligent and you give it your all."
You'll want to know about the book, but I'm not going to go into those smallanyana details like getting her own date of birth wrong or the typos - and let's not touch the twar her ex started this week over it.
Boy, does Queen B look gorgeous on the cover, but it must be hard being Bonang and knowing why many of your peers don't show up to share in your success .....
