WHAT: Peppa Pig’s Perfect Day

WHERE: Theatre of Marcellus, Emperors Palace, Kempton Park

WHEN: March 24-April 10, different show times 

After a successful first visit to South Africa, Peppa Pig has returned, with George, Mummy and Daddy Pig and her friends Rebecca Rabbit and Candy Cat. On this adventure, Peppa tries to plan a perfect day for her parents — but things don’t go her way. A limited number of meet and greet vouchers are available to add on to your show tickets for those fans who would like to meet their favourite TV character.

The show will run at Emperors Palace before moving to the Cape Town International Convention Centre from April 14-16 and The Globe @ Suncoast in Durban from April 21-23. Tickets from R159 through the Peppa Pig Live website

WHAT: Ted's space adventure

WHERE: Naval Hill Planetarium, University of the Free State Centre for Earth and Space, Bloemfontein

WHEN: March 29, 2pm

For a bit of entertainment meets education, join a bear named Ted at the Naval Hill Planetarium to explore the solar system and learn how it affects us on Earth. The show is suited to children and will be offered in English and Afrikaans.

WHAT: Matilda Jr the Musical

WHERE: National Children’s Theatre Indoor Inspiration Theatre, Parktown, Johannesburg

WHEN: March 30-April 1, different show times

After a run at the Pretoria Youth Theatre in Pretoria, Matilda Jr the Musical is coming to the National Children’s Theatre in Joburg. Held in collaboration with the Pretoria Children’s Theatre, it tells the story of a girl with a great imagination. The Tony Award-winning musical is suitable for ages three and up and features memorable songs such as When I Grow Up and Naughty that will slap a smile on your face.

WHAT: Soweto Spiritual Singers

WHERE: The Mandela Stage at the Joburg Theatre, Braamfontein, Johannesburg

WHEN: March 31-April 2, different show times

The Soweto Spiritual Singers have toured the world to sold-out shows. Now, for the first time, they will be performing at the Joburg Theatre in a showcase of the diverse South African and African sounds they have come to be known for. As founder Vicky Vilakazi says: “We want to present our cultures and traditions in energetic performances accompanied with dance, ululating and an exhilarating towering of joy to the world. We felt it was time to perform at home and to bring the magic of our show to South Africa.”

WHAT: Harvest festival events at Boschendal

WHERE: Boschendal Estate, Franschhoek

WHEN: March 31-April 2, different events at different times

Boschendal is pulling out all the stops with a number of events to celebrate its harvest festival. Start with the harvest market either on March 31 from 5pm-9pm or April 1 from 9am-noon. Enjoy delicious seasonal food, shop for fresh produce and sample Boschendal wines and bubbles on the Friday. Kids can enjoy fun harvest festival activities, carousel rides and face painting. Entrance free.

For kitchen inspiration, book a plum fermentation workshop on April 1 from 9am-noon and 1.30pm-4.30pm. Workshops cost R850 and include a plum-inspired pastry, tea, coffee and water, a garden walk, and plum kombucha ice cream.

Experience a taste with the harvest long table lunch which will be served under the estate’s beautiful oak trees on Werf Avenue on April 2 at 12.30pm. Lunch (including  a vegetarian menu) will cost R850 and R150 for children.

WHAT: Klein Karoo Nationale Kunstefees

WHERE: Oudtshoorn

WHEN: April 1-9

An artistic feast for the senses, the Klein Karoo Nationale Kunstefees is back with a jam-packed programme over nine days with theatre, music, visual arts, storytelling, – even foodie events like the craft beer and artisanal cheese pairing or a sourdough workshop. Browse a variety of stalls selling everything from handmade products to fashion and food at the festival market or explore the town and its surrounds — perhaps by booking a historical walking tour.

To mark the launch of his debut solo album Carousel, join Prime Circle frontman Ross Learmonth as he presents A Big Day out With Friends where he will be joined by Jesse Clegg, Majozi, Bianca Blanc and Lee Cole. Enjoy the last warmth of summer with a drive out to Harties and absorb the beautiful view, good food and cold drinks.

WHAT: Classical Music Concert in the Knysna Forest

WHERE: King Edward VII Big Tree at Diepwalle, Garden Route National Park

WHEN: April 1, 4pm

Join the SANParks Honorary Rangers for a night of classical music under the yellowwoods of the beautiful Knysna Forest. With all proceeds going to conservation projects in the Garden Route National Park, concertgoers will be serenaded by tenor Pierre van der Westhuizen, soprano Marike Laranjeira, cellist Throy Peterson, violinist Stephan Conradie and Jaco Krieg on the saxophone.
